Ineveryleaf，ineverycellofeveryleaf，thereareahundredproblemsTherearetengoodyearsofaman\'slifeininvestigatingwhatisinaleafGodhasplannedtheworldtoincitementointellectualactivity。
Thirdly:THEINSTRUMENTWITHWHCIHWEATTEMPTTOINVESTIGATETRUTH
ISIMPAIREDSomesayitfell，andtheglassisbrokenSomesayprejudice，heredity，orsin，havespoileditssight，andhaveblindedoureyesanddeadenedourearsInanycasetheinstrumentswithwhichweworkupontruth，eveninthestrongestmen，arefeebleandinadequatetotheirtremendoustask。

PROBLEMS:suchastheproblemoftheoriginofevil，theproblemoftheTrinity，theproblemoftherelationofhumanwillandpredestination，andsoon——problemswhichhavebeeninvestigatedforthousandsofyearswithoutresult——askthemtosetthoseproblemsasideasinsolubleInthemeantime，justasamanwhoisstudyingmathematicsmaybeaskedtosetasidetheproblemofsquaringthecircle，lethimgoonwithwhatcanbedone，andwhathasbeendone，andleaveoutofsighttheimpossible。

Entiresatisfactiontotheintellectisunattainableaboutanyofthegreaterproblems，andifyoutrytogettothebottomofthembyargument，thereisnobottomthere；andthereforeyoumakethematterworseButIwouldsaywhatisknown，andwhatcanbehonestlyandphilosophicallyandscientificallysaidaboutoneortwoofthedifficultiesthatthedoubterraises，justtoshowhimthatyoucandoit——toshowhimthatyouarenotafool——thatyouarenotmerelygropinginthedarkyourself，butyouhavefoundwhateverbasisispossibleButIwouldnotgoaroundallthedoctrinesIwouldsimplydothatwithoneortwo；becausethemomentyoucutoffone，ahundredotherheadswillgrowinitsplaceItwouldbeapityifalltheseproblemscouldbesolved。
ThejoyoftheintellectuallifewouldbelargelygoneIwouldnotrobamanofhisproblems，norwouldIhaveanothermanrobmeofmyproblemsTheyarethedelightoflife，andthewholeintellectualworldwouldbestaleandunprofitableifwekneweverything。
Fourthly——andthisisthegreatpoint:TURNAWAYFROMTHEREASON
ANDGOINTOTHEMAN\'SMORALLIFE。
Idon\'tmean，gointohismorallifeandseeifthemanislivinginconscioussin，whichisthegreatblinderoftheeyes——Iamspeakingnowofhonestdoubt；butopenanewdoorintoThepracticalsideofman\'snature。
Entreathimnottopostponelifeandhislife\'susefulnessuntilhehassettledtheproblemsoftheuniverseTellhimthoseproblemswillneverallbesettled；thathislifewillbedonebeforehehasbeguntosettlethem；andaskhimwhatheisdoingwithhislifemeantimeChargehimwithwastinghislifeandhisusefulness；
