Ijudgethatthetelegramtraveledabout200miles。ItisthebesttelegraphicworkIhaveseensinceIhavebeenhere,andIammentioningitinthisplacenotasacomplaintbutasacompliment。Ithinkacomplimentoughtalwaystoprecedeacomplaint,whereoneispossible,becauseitsoftensresentmentandinsuresforthecomplaintacourteousandgentlereception。
Still,thereisadetailortwoconnectedwiththismatterwhichoughtperhapstobementioned。Andnow,havingsmoothedthewaywiththecompliment,Iwillventurethem。TheheadcorpseintheYorkHarborofficesentmethattelegramaltho(1)heknewitwouldreachmetoolatetobeofanyvalue;(2)also,thathewasgoingtosendittomebyhisboy;(3)thattheboywouldnottakethetrolleyandcomethe2milesin12minutes,butwouldwalk;(4)thathewouldbetwohoursandaquarterontheroad;(5)andthathewouldcollect25centsfortransportation,foratelegramwhichtheheknewtobeworthlessbeforehestartedit。
