onewouldhavethought,Isay,thatthesepublicschoolsandcollegeswouldhavetaughttheirscholarssomewhatatleastaboutsuchmatters,thattheymightgoforthintolifewithatleastsomeroughnotionsofthecauseswhichmakepeoplehealthyorunhealthy,richorpoor,comfortableorwretched,usefulordangeroustotheState。Butaslongasourgreateducationalinstitutions,safe,orfancyingthemselvessafe,insomeenchantedcastle,shutoutbyancientmagicfromthelivingworld,putapremiumonLatinandGreekverses:awisefatherwill,duringtheholidays,talknowandthen,Ihope,somewhatafterthisfashion:
